The Brass Event opens with two inspired British brass concertos and an Armenian firecracker. Join three of Europe's most celebrated soloists, David Pyatt (horn), Peter Moore (trombone) and Tine Thing Helseth (trumpet) for virtuoso performances of Oliver Knussen’s Horn Concerto, Mark Anthony Turnage’s Yet Another Set To for trombone and orchestra and Alexander Arutunian’s seminal Trumpet Concerto. Bookending this spectacular showcase will the Fanfare from Paul Dukas’s La Péri and Igor Stravinsky's Firebird.

The BBC National Orchestra of Wales present a once-in-a-lifetime programme, featuring the landmark Symphony No. 5 by Malcolm Arnold, Oscar-winning composer for Bridge on the River Kwai and other iconic British films, and the latest of a stream of thrilling new works inspired by the artistry of Håkan Hardenberger whose thirty-year career has taken the trumpet into many uncharted territories. The performance will take us to the unique landscapes of Tobias Broström’s Lucernaris H. K. Gruber’s 3 MOB Pieces.
