Saturday 12 October
18:30 | St David's Hall Level 3 Lounge
From over one hundred submissions to our international call for works, six works of excellent quality have been selected for performance at a free concert at the Arcomis International Brass Event 2013 to promote the creation of the Digital Arcomis Brass Album:
Luca Vanneschi Alforisma Primo
Andrea Chamizo Alberro Treuque
Edmund Jolliffe Five Little Pictures
Ethan Davies Strombus
Andrew Howes Canticles (first movement)
Ray Leung A Purple Dawn
Performing these works are Ian Wildsmith, Eliott Sideman, Jonathan Farrey, Nia Morris, Dafydd Thomas, and members of the Arcomis Brass Quintet, accompanied by Steven Kings.
The order is to be confirmed.
Interspersing these exciting new works, Arcomis' Director and Head of Publishing will discuss the placement of new music, how Arcomis promotes and supports composers, and the Arcomis Brass Albums project. This is a session for all, and especially performers and audiences curious about the 'jeans and sneakers' of today's new music, and how Arcomis aims to get it out there.
This session will be recorded by BAFTA winning sound dubbing mixer Martyn Harries, who will be demonstrating and discussing how to make the best recording possible of your performance with different sorts of equipment throughout. Come and gain expert tips in creating usable recordings.
This is a FREE, un-ticketed event.
All tickets and event passes (full or day) are available through St. Davids Hall.
